Take a minute to plan the application of your new sticker set for best results, call us with questions before applying: 970-586-6995

You must start with a clean surface!

We recommend preparing the surface with a gentle cleaner. We use 70% isopropyl alcohol mixed 50/50 with water and sprayed on to remove grime and light petroleum contamination. Windex and some other glass cleaners contain a chemical treatment to treat the surface, and may contaminate the surface for vinyl application purposes. We have had good success using Goof Off brand cleaner for metal and some plastic surfaces, which is quite effective on left over sticker adhesive residue, but must be followed up with the alcohol/water mix above.

TEST your cleaner on a concealed portion of the material that you are preparing for graphic application, to ensure the cleaner does not damage the surface.

Consider using tweezers or the edge of a razor to pick up and position stickers, because the less you touch the adhesive side the better it will stick.

If it spins, don't put a sticker on it ! The weight of the sticker may cause an imbalance and affect performance negatively.

General Material Application Tips

On each sticker set, a star with a number may appear, which correlates with the tips given here.

This is a 3M removable automotive grade vinyl; each piece is easy to install because although the vinyl is intended for one time use, it is repositionable during installation to insure a perfect application. Just lift it back up if you don't like it and lay it back down. Once in place, smooth the vinyl with the pad of your finger, then go over it with the back of your fingernail with about 20# of pressure to seal the edges. The stickers will not come off by themselves, but may easily be removed without chemicals by merely lifting the edge and pulling away from the surface.

Professional trick: Small pieces (almost every piece in your set) are easier to place using tweezers or the tip of a hobby knife. This will also reduce the chance of contaminating the adhesive backing. Slip the tip of the tweezers under the sticker on the carrier sheet, then lift and move into position and apply as above.

This material used for: DJI identity sets Phantom, Mavic Pro, Mavic Air, P2V, Inspire (opaque stickers), Spark; LED Legends; Phantom Control Stick; S1, S2; Phantom Check List; Colorblast Pinstripe Kit; Autel X-Star identity set; Yuneec Typhoon H identity set; Parrot Bebop 2 and Swing. Also used for all map bases (states and provinces are not repositionable)
This is a high performance vinyl that is not repositionable, with an aggressive adhesive on the back. Simply position and stick down to a clean surface with the soft pad of your finger, then the back of your fingernail with approximately 20# of pressure. See the Vinyl Application Instructions (yellow box above) for specific instructions for graphics that are supplied with transfer tape. The graphic is sandwiched in between a material liner (bottom) and transfer tape (top) that allows the entire graphic to be applied to the surface as one piece together in perfect alignment. Parts of these graphics may be cut off, removed or repositioned before application. Using masking tape to position the graphic is advisable.

Particularly well suited for smooth, non porous smooth surfaces, but will work very well with other lightly textured smooth surfaces. If you end up with air bubbles beneath the vinyl, don't try to run it to the edge of the vinyl. Instead, pierce the bubble with the head of a sharp pin and ease the air out. Don't use the long straight edge of a razor. Alternately, the vinyl is gas permeable and the bubbles will probably outgas through the vinyl in a few days.

If applying to cases or other equipment, review Flame Treatment Instructions (yellow box above) for specialty plastics.

This material used for: DJI Case Logos; Helispot; Warning/Reward; Oval badges; 'I Fly' stickers; Inspire 1 (clear stickers).

FAA Registration Numbers

The US FAA requires that all unmanned aircraft between .55 and 55 pounds are registered and marked by the registration number issued by the FAA:

"you may use a permanent marker, label, or engraving, as long as the number remains affixed to the aircraft during routine handling and all operating conditions and is readily accessible and legible upon close visual inspection. You can mark inside the battery compartment if it doesn't require a tool to open." (from FAA DroneZone)

Sticker Maps

All of our maps include 2 types of material- repositionable 3M vinyl for the base, and a one-stick vinyl for the states and provinces. See instructions for *1 and *2 at the top of this page for specifics. With larger pieces of vinyl, we peel back half of the release liner and lay the first half down, smoothing the vinyl to the surface with a soft cotton shirt to press into any irregularities with the surface, then lay the second half down. Of course, position the large vinyl before sticking it down! Call with questions; instruction sheet enclosed with each map.
